Chennai 14 April 2022 IMATS Chancellor Dr N M Veeraiyan and team meet CM and seek wishes for Saveetha Dental College being ranked world’s top 18th dental college by QS World!
In yet another milestone, Chennai-based Saveetha Dental College, a part of Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), was recently ranked 18th among the world’s top dental colleges by The QS World University Rankings, hailed as the Oscars for higher education institutions across the globe. Saveetha has become the only dental college from Tamil Nadu to achieve this.
Following this, SIMATS Chancellor Dr N M Veeraiyan; Dr Deepak Nallaswamy (S/o of Dr Veeraiyan), Director of Academics, SIMATS; Dr Saveetha ( D/o Dr Veeraiyan), Director of Saveetha Medical College; Dr Sheeja Varghese, Registrar -SIMATS; Dr Sindhu, Dean of Accreditation –SIMATS; and Dr Aravind, Dean- Saveetha Dental College today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and showed the ranking certificate.
The Chief Minister, who was happy to know about the honour secured by the college, congratulated the whole team and wished them more success.
This massive feat is first of its kind for Indian Universities. QS World uses a consistent methodological framework with six metrics that effectively captures the university / institution’s performance.
This recognition is being viewed as an honour to Saveetha Dental College’s constant endeavours to remain on top when it comes to dental education, research and treatment.
About SIMATS
The Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust was created in 1986 mainly to
provide medical relief, to promote Education and encourage Research. The Trust started Saveetha Dental College and established an attached General Hospital in the year 1988.
Subsequently the Trust established a Nursing College, Physiotherapy College, Occupational Therapy College and an Engineering College in order to comply with its commitment and to serve the people, especially those living in villages in and around Chennai and adjoining districts of Tamilnadu.
SIMATS was formerly known as Saveetha University, the name has changed to Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (Deemed to be University) with effect from 30 November, 2017 as per the University Grants Commission notification.
