Chennai 05 October 2022 E-Mobility Services Launch by ZeMP and Pegasus Green Mobility!!
Chennai, 05/10/22: Dr J Radhakrishnan, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu, Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department, today launched the E-Mobility Services by Zero Emission Mobility Platform (ZeMP) in association with Pegasus Green Mobility (Powered by Parveen Travels Pvt. Ltd) in Chennai for electrification of last mile delivery fleet for e-Commerce and food delivery companies. ZeMP is the part of umbrella platform – Greenifit which is under the ambit of Spoctech Green Ventures Pvt. Ltd. Parveen Travels Pvt Ltd is one of the leading transport operators in South India. ZeMP has associated with various OEMs such as Hero Electric, BGauss, ETrio, etc. for deploying electric two wheelers and electric three wheelers (L5 Cargo).
Entire World is facing severe climate crisis due to global warming today. The data shows that about 25% of Green House Gas Emission is due to transport sector and the governments globally are pushing the adoption of electric vehicle to make transport much cleaner and greener. Government of India has brought FAME Scheme for faster adoption of EV in India. The EV Policy of Tamil Nadu also aims to create robust charging infrastructure and make Tamil Nadu a preferred destination for EV.
With the rapid increase in online deliveries, the demand for 2W for last mile delivery has increased. While on one hand it is providing employment to many people in last mile deliveries, one the other hand, it is emitting significant amount of carbon footprints. ZeMP in association with Pegasus Green Mobility has vision to deploy more than 5,000 electric two wheelers in Chennai over the next two years which will help reduce significant carbon emission in last mile delivery segments.
Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu, said “Nice to be part of the launch of subscription-based e-bike mobility services project today evening. This has been undertaken by Greenifit and a number of partner organizations such as Parveen Travels, Hero Electric, Bguass, Etrio and also Institute of Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) as knowledge partner. It is expected to go a great way in giving fillip to consumers by making a beginning with the emerchandise firms and their delivery persons benefitting from this subscription-based approach. This service is being provided through the ZeMP (Zero Emission Mobility Platform) platform.”
With electric mobility as the prime focus area of the Government, the faster adoption of EVs is dependent on availability of finance. With India registering more than 10 lakh EVS in past 2-3 years, there is a dearth of financing resources for buying electric two wheelers for last time deliveries. ZeMP as an aggregator platform will help last mile deliveries partners to get easy subscription model to adopt electric two wheelers at convenience.
Vikash Sharda and Hitesh Hiran, Co-founders of Greenifit, informed that “ZeMP is launched in Chennai, Tamil Nadu today with our OEM partners, and soon it will be rolled out to major cities across the country. Under ZeMP, we would be deploying charging and battery swapping infrastructure in these cities to decarbonize urban mobility in a significant manner.”.
Mohammed Afzal, Chairman and Managing Director of Parveen Travels, said “since 2013 we have started working towards green mobility by planting saplings for each of the passengers travelling in our buses. We started electric mobility services through Pegasus Green Mobility, and today we have partnered with Greenifit to enable electrification of last mile delivery in the state.
